notes here. words: 281 | If one thing stayed the same no matter what world Carrie was in it was that crime happened. New York City or Gotham there were still thefts and car jackings. And New York wasn't all that different. Other than being a friendlier place, it still had the tall buildings she could perch on. So for now she was going to do her crime fighting there.
Besides, she heard rumors of Batman around the city. She wasn't going to leave without him. It was Batman and Robin. Not Robin. They were a dynamic duo, so she had no intention of ignoring the chance to be reunited.
So how was she going to find her Dark Knight? Same way she did it at thirteen years old. When night fell she donned her shorts and pixie boots and took to the roofs. Taking out petty criminals got his attention last time, it should work this time, right? Well she sure hoped it would work that way. She was worried there was a chance she'd attract a different hero, some Captain so and so or whatever. "Okay, just keep an eye out for a big black figure, Carrie." She assured herself as she pulled out her grappling hook.
She shot it up to a higher building and swung around to another roof. She landed quietly and looked around. Nothing out of the ordinary so far- and wait... Was that a pair of pointed ears she just saw glide by the corner of her eye. Carrie turned quickly. Was it really that easy? Was that really Batman moving just a few roofs over? Eagerly she jumped the gap to the next building for a closer look. "Boss?"

Batman was tired, he was sore and he was sleepy. During the day when he was pretending to be Richard Drake he worked as a computer and security specialist. The pay was great and his Harvard 'degree' made it easy to find good paying jobs. However, the jobs were brutal at times. He works long 10 hour shifts with hours of coding and very little physical activity. So, he had increased his training regiment at home spending an extra hour working out.
He sighed softly lifting his hands up to his cowl adjusting the zoom functions in the eye pieces following cars. There had been reports of a rise of drive byes in the Bronx. It seemed one of the lower ranked gangs called the Bronx Bangers have been harassing civilians trying to enforce their territory. Batman had been tracking a ground of Bangers that seemed to take great pleasure in their job.
He could see their car coming down the road now and he slipped a little bit backwards of the roof. Even thought he had been active for only a little while Dick had built his Batman persona a reputation similar to what Bruce had in his world. People on both sides supporting him and condemning him. He had even gotten the same Racist sort of treatments meta's got. He resisted the urge to spit as a foul taste entered his mouth as he thought of this worlds government.
Batman sighed softly and returned his attention to the car. There were about five people in the car each of them busy chatting to each other. Dick adjusted his eye pieces to a mode that was able to pick up weapon signatures. He saw about two 9mm pistols and a one Uzi's. "I guess that one is the one that shoots during the drive bye ... other two most likely security..." He stood up slowly before he heard something behind him.
It might have been luck her heard the light foot steps of the female wonder.
"Boss?"
Batman whirled around 3 batarangs ready to be thrown but he stopped himself mid throw looking at the girl. First, the tactical overview, young most likely early 20s or very late teens, strong, well built, obviously trained. Now the Dick overview, cute, nice legs, Redhead, and in HIS first Robin outfit.
"Okay, one I'm not your boss girly, two you got skills kid barely caught you until you talked and finally what are you doing in my old suit and who the heck are you?"
He looked over his shoulder at the car and saw a man lean out the window. Batman cursed under his breath and looked at the unknown Robin. "If you are a good guy follow me and answer me as we move! These guys are going to do a hit and run. Try to keep up girly show me you earned that suit!"
Batman was running jumping into the air and flipping with ease as he pursued the car. He dare not use the car it would draw way to much attention. "So where are you from? Future? Alternate Earth?"
Batman was extremely interested. If this girl was from a different earth than even his own then this could be a issue. He might not be able to leave this world, but this fact would confirm his theory that a lot of alternate Earths were involved.

notes here. words: 440 | The bat figure before Carrie stood up, and he was... shorter than she expected. Her Batman towered over her. Which wasn't hard when your a five foot three inches, but her boss was nearly a foot taller than her. Which was pretty impressive for an aging man really, he was very well built despite age. But this Batman was shorter, and his voice was different, younger, not as gruff.
"Yeah, clearly you aren't. And it's not girly, it's Robin!" She responded with a huff like it was obvious. She opened her arms to show off her bright costume, and waved a hand at the R on her chest. Could he not tell by her outfit?
Oh no. What if this was a Batman that never had a Robin? But wait, he said "my old suit." What did he mean by that?
"What's going on down there?" She went to the edge of the roof and peered down when this Batman looked over. The car that he was looking at was zooming on it's way to shoot someone up. "Great, a bunch of losers."
Looking back up she wrinkled her nose at being called girly again. Before she could give him snark he was already flipping away to chase down the shooters. She chased after him, jumping lightly from roof to roof. While she wasn't an acrobat, she had some skills in the graceful flipping department. It came with the training, and seven years of it did some wonders. She got pretty good at quietly maneuvering around enemies. She was keeping up with this guy pretty well.
"Of course I'm a good guy. And I don't know what you mean. I'm not from this world, that's all I know." She watched the car below as she ran just behind him. "Why don't we just take out their tires? Can't hit and run if they can't get away." She jumped down to a lower roof and pulled out the slingshot that was tucked under her belt. If she could just get closer it would be easy to take out a tire or two.
She waited for this Bat's input. She didn't normally listen to orders well, but she was curious about this guy. He wasn't the guy she knew, but he was a Batman nonetheless. Whoever he was, he knew how to deal with such a situation. Robin didn't completely trust this guy, but she was going to allow him a little faith for now. Still, her guard was up around him. She wasn't going to just introduce herself like she did to the one in her world when she was younger.

Batman smirked at her as she told him off for calling her Girly before they embarked on their mission. He picked up speed using his Parkour mastery to quickly catch up to the car with little to no effort. He was purposefully trying to leave this girl behind. He wanted to test her out see how good she was, if she could keep up ... Then maybe ... Batman stopped at the edge of the roof.
"Well, I'm glad you're a good guy. And you kept up pretty good so far. Not easy to keep up with me gir-.... Robin." He stopped himself saying it. If she wasn't from his Earth then it was only fair to respect her. He next addressed her plan of taking out the tires. "Normally I would agree with you, but right now these guys are volatile. I'd rather not risk the chance of them jumping out of their car and opening fire in the streets."
Batman looked at her as she jumped down to a lower roof and he followed her. "So you're really a Robin heh? Well you seem pretty good. On my earth I was the first Robin. My Batman, went ... missing and I had to take up the mantle. Then, I ended up here. That is why I asked you about my old outfit."
He stopped talking and began to think hard about courses of action they could take. Her idea had merit. If he could fuse it with other elements then, it could work. He looked as the car began to slow down. He could see movement in the car as they got ready. He scanned the area again. There was a roof on the other side of the street that had a fire escape jetting out from the side.
Batman smiled and turned to Robin. "Okay, Robin I have an idea. I am correct in the fact just taking the tires out could make them go crazy. However, if I land on the hood of the car first, I give them a target. When I do I want you to take out the tires then, come join me." He reached into his belt and handed her flash pellets. "I might not have time to move so when you get there I want you to throw these. It'll make a bright explosion so be ready. This will provide a window for you to take out the Bangers."
He moved and took out a grapple gun. He aimed and shoot it at the roof across the street and the cable pulled him across the street silently his cape flapping but making no noise. He pulled himself up and waved to Robin. He walked over to the edge of the roof. While he waited, Batman felt a strange excitement. He had a Robin, it wasn't Damian it was a NEW Robin.
The dynamic duo was whole again at least for a night. It was up to Robin if she wanted it to be permanent. He refocused on the task at hand as the car drew closer slowly speeding up now as it approached its target. He held up his arm waiting to signal her to take the tires out before he swung his arm down as he jumped off the roof and landed on the hood of the car.
The thugs inside began to panic screaming loudly. Batman punched a hole into the window and pulled it shattering it with ease and he pulled out the driver and the other in the front seat before throwing them out onto the sidewalk with two loud THUD sounds.
Batman jumped off the car trusting Robin to have taken out the wheels. He ran towards the two thugs he had thrown out, who were slowly getting up. One tried to fire his gun, but Batman was ready as he jumped flipping in the air and kicked the man in the face breaking his nose and sending him crashing to the ground.
The next one ran at Batman swearing and throwing two punches. Batman dodged the first and blocked the second one grabbing the arm and twisting it before breaking it with a loud SNAP. "You guys wouldn't last three seconds in Gotham!"
He turned after taunting to see how Robin was fairing with the rest of the thugs.

notes here. words: 420 | "Of course I'm Robin, just like the two before me... So you're...?" He was a Robin too? Well since Jason was killed that only left one other person. She drifted off before actually saying his name. Rule one of super heroing, you don't use real names.
Other than this guy being shorter there was another big difference that threw Robin off. He talked. A lot. Like, he was explaining why it was a bad idea to just pop some tires like she wanted to. Her Batman would just say "no" and maybe a "too risky/dangerous." That was usually enough to keep Carrie from going head in like half her plans were. Still, this guy was working out a new plan, and talking her through it in detail.
And was that a smile? A genuine grin coming from underneath the cowl? Robin stared at the caped crusader in utter shock. Batman never grinned. Hell, she barely saw Bruce Wayne spare a smirk.
Carrie snapped out of it when he handed her the pellets. She looked down to inspect them. "You know I already have some-" She stopped mid sentence realizing he was already gliding across to another roof.
Rude.
She shook her head and climbed down to a balcony of the building then too an alley ahead of the car. As they pulled up they gave her the perfect angle to sabotage their car. And Batman was now harassing the driver, that was her chance. She pulled out a couple of explosive pellets, fire one each at tire with loud POPS. The sound might not have been impressive, but the holes torn into the rubber sure were.
With the driver and front passenger being taken care of by the Batman, the goons in the back of the car poured out to aid their friends. Carrie shot another explosive pellet at a man readying a gun towards her partner. He dropped the gun in fright, and Robin took that to her advantaged. She ran out and swiftly jabbed the man in the solar plexus. She wasn't particularly strong, but a quick enough his would surely knock the wind out of the guy.
She then turned to the other goon running around the car to get at her. She cartwheeled at him, kicking her foot into his jaw as she went upside down and pulling one of his legs with a hand to help him fall down. She straightened herself out and looked over to Batman. "Is that Robin enough for you?"

So, this was another Robin. She was from a timeline very different from his, but she could move. He stood back watching her take down the thugs was a look of pleased surprise of his face. He watched the girl wonder dart around and take out the rest of the thugs.
What impressed Batman the most was how she had followed his orders to a T, even Tim had issues being precise. And don't get Dick started of Todd. He began to walk over to her after she had taken out the rest of the thugs. Batman smiled at her and gave her a thumbs up.
"Not bad kid, and yeah I'd say you've earned that suit!" He said punching her shoulder gently as he looked at the thugs on the ground. "Alert the cops Imma have a little chat with our fine gentlemen here." He bent down and looked over the group before choosing one who was wearing a red bandanna. He had been the shooter with the Uzi.
Batman slapped him to wake him up and the man groaned in pain before opening his eyes. Batman prepared himself entering a moire serious state. The man opened his eyes to look at Batman whose eyes were glaring down at him.
"Yo man, let me go dawg I promise I won't hurt nobody."
Batman picked him up with one hand grasping his shirt. "Listen Punk and you listen well. I want you and your gang to stop this stupid crap. You are putting innocent lives at risk..." He spoke in a light growl as he pulled the punk close.
"I can't promise you nothing you gotta talk to Halo!"
Batman punched him enough to hurt, but not knock him out. "Who is Halo?"
"He's the boss man bro! He tells us the hits man lemme go!"
Batman punched him in the gut harder and dragged him to a wall. He slammed the man against it. "Alrighty buddy then where is this halo guy!?" Batman punched the wall next to the man cracking the bricks.
"He's at the Manhattan Hospital! He's gonna hit one of the big guys of an enemy gang that is recovering!" The man spoke in a terrified tone.
Batman narrowed his eyes. "Thanks! Now stay off my streets!" He punched the man hard in the face crushing his nose before dropping the bleeding man to the ground where he slumped over.
"Not bad huh? Bruce would be proud." He said softly with a smirk before becoming serious again. "That hospital is in trouble are you with me Robin?" He hoped she would say yes. She had shown she was very capable and he could use the back up.
"I assume you are trained in stealth?" He asked pressing a few buttons on his gauntlet. The Batmobile began to roar towards them at blinding speeds making sure not hit anyone. A few minutes later it rolled up and parked near Batman.
"Also..we should talk about making this team-up permanent." He added with a smile.

notes here. words: 347 | If this Batman thought that this little feisty Robin was going to keep up with following orders, boy was his in for a disappointment. Especially if his orders were for her to stay put. She wasn't going to sit back and let him have all the fun. And if doing as he said meant more smiles, she was hesitant to keep it up. There was no way she was going to get used to that.
"You bet I earned it! Spent two weeks of lunch money on making my first costume." She looked down at the sad sacks on the ground that were about to get a good questioning. She nodded as she left Batman to his own device as she went to find a phone. Just at the corner she grabbed a payphone and dialed 9-1-1.
"9-1-1 what's your emergency?" A man's voice recited through the phone.
"Yeah, hi. I need some cops over here to pick up some thugs we knocked out."
"We? You and who ma'am? Can I get a location?" The voice didn't sound too sure about the whole thugs got knocked out thing.
Robin adjusted her tinted glasses and responded casually. "Y'know the Dynamic Duo. We're on the corner of 81st and Broadway. There's four of them. One had a gun."
"Dynamic Duo? Well, uh... I'm sending out a couple of police cars now."
"Yeah, Batman and Robin. Thanks for the assist keep doing what you do!" She thanked the operator cheerfully and hung up before anymore questions could get asked.
Robin trotted back over the the Dark Knight and the poor sad sack he was beating up for answers. She cringed as she heard the crunch of bone. That sound always sent chills up her spine. She gave him a thumbs up when he smirked at her, but a frown formed on her face. "Ugh seriously? That's a low move to pull." People attacking hospitals, churches, and schools were the worst.
"After seven years I sure hope so." She smirked as she approached the passenger door. "Sounds like a good idea."

Batman nodded at Robin as she answered him. He was impressed with her. She wasn't as serious as Tim or as combat heavy as Damian, but she was her own Robin. Her attitude pleased him as well. She was snappy and sassy just like himself. No wonder Bruce had taken a liking to her. Batman opened the doors to the Batmobile and he climbed inside the drives side. The inside was dyed red by the tinted glass of the windshield. Batman turned the car to manual and entered in the Hospitals location before pulling out and beginning to drive down the street. Now they were alone Batman turned to his new Robin. "So ... what is he like in your world ... the original Batman?" He couldn't say Bruce outright, alternate earths could mean someone else was Batman like maybe Oliver Queen. The mental image of a broody Oliver Queen made him shiver a little. "In my Universe he was ... a mentor. He wasn't the kindest man, and he wasn't the most forward. However, when all is said and done he was there for us. He pasted away on my earth." Batman focused on the road for a bit. He missed Bruce and as far as he knew Bruce had been dead even before Batman had been transported here, The hospital came into view and parked outside was a red low rider painted in the colors of the Bangers. "I guess that's them." Batman growled as he pulled into an ally. He pressed a button on the dashboard and a menu appeared. Batman spent a minute setting up a connection between the built-in Batcomputer and the security cameras inside the hospital.
It took Batman a moment to flick through the various cameras. The Batcomputer was hacked into the NYPD files making it possible to do facial scans and identify targets. Batman flipped to a screen showing a hallway on the 14th floor. Three men were highlighted in red with the word dangerous under their names. One of the names was Ray 'Halo" Martinez.
Batman looked at Robin. "Looks like we got our targets. We're gonna need to approach from behind ... can't use flash-bangs or smoke bombs. It might harm patients." Batman left the car and waited for Robin before hurrying over to the side of the hospital and taking out his grapple gun. He handed a spare one to Robin in case she didn't have one. He aimed shooting it up and hooking it onto the roof.
Batman landed on a ledge and opened one of the windows that led to a dark empty room. Batman entered it silently and turned to Robin. "You take point and make sure any hospital staff stay silent, I'll be right behind you. We need to take out the gangsters quickly. Can you handle that?" Batman had dropped the cheeky attitude he had displayed on the streets. This was no place for it a lot of lives were in danger right now.
"They are probably armed as well ... go for the eyes." Batman pushed up the door checking the hall before motioning for Robin to move one it was clear.

notes here. words: 461 | Carrie hopped in beside the big bat and buckled her little butt in. Safety first. Like she was one to talk of safety though, just thirteen years old she drove the batmobile a couple times. Bruce wasn't pleased with it when he found out seeing as he was unconscious when she did, but she still had yet to crash the vehicle.
She listened quietly to how Dick talked of Batman. He sounded like he really cared, and Batman was caring back. She understood what he meant. He hired her after she saved him, then trained her throughout the years to be great. She couldn't help but get attached too, and her heart would just about break if he died. "Mine's a lot like yours. He's a good mentor, and is very serious on missions. He threatens to fire me a lot, but that's just cause he cares I think. He retired a long time ago, y'know after the second Robin died. But one day he came back, he saved me from muggers, so I became Robin to help."
As they approached the hospital she unbuckled again and watched him tinker with his gadgets. For a guy who was taken from his own world, he sure had money if he could afford to keep a high tech vehicle like this. Robin nodded to him, knowing that bringing explosives into a hospital was a bad idea. She hopped out of the car and followed after him to the building. Once again Carrie gave him a look. After seven years of Robin, did he really think she didn't carry a grappling gun? "You know I have my own, right?" She handed it back to him and pulled out the one settled in her utility belt.
She swooped up, getting her footing on the ledge before slipping into the window after Batman. Again he gave her orders, and his serious tone let her know this was definitely not a time to ignore them. She knew better than that when there were stakes like these.
The Girl Wonder slipped out the door and down the hall with quiet footsteps.
"Hey!" She peered down the corner. A nurse had spotted her and called out, but then again, she wasn't in the most inconspicuous outfit. "What are you doing here?"
"Shhh! Act like I'm not here, and stay calm." She quickly hushed the older woman, explaining that there is a threat to the hospital and she was investigating it. The woman didn't seem too convinced, but Carrie made her promise not to call security unless she disturbed patients (Which Carrie in turn promised not to do).
She then turned down another hall in search of the gunmen.
